Give me a minute...

OK, before I head to my first lecture. I have been reading about this officer from Road and Transport Department(JPJ) and this motorcyclist. The story is like this. This boy ride his or rather his father's motorcycle without licence. Unfortunately that day, this boy was caught in the act by the JPJ officer. And as any normal JPJ officer would do, they flag him and asked him to stop. But, this boy, being clever and nervous as he should be, decided not to stop. So, this angry, annoyed JPJ officer threw a chair to this boy. I am not quite sure what happened after that. But one thing for sure, this angered the people of the village. And all the villagers(just like in the 50's) decided to 'pay' this officer a visit, if you know what I mean. And hence, this issue came out as national issue in Malaysia. And if you happen to read the newspaper in Malaysia, some support the officer's action and some support the villagers' action. OK, here is the deal, the boy clearly broke the rule for not having licence to ride a motorcycle and not wearing safety helmet. Which also means, he is not covered by the insurance which is also a law. That's three rule broken. Then, for not stopping when asked by a JPJ officer, that's a fourth rule broken. Ethically, riding without a licence is wrong. They are not putting themselves in danger but also putting others(licenced and qualified road user plus pedestrians) at danger. That will give you a total of 4 broken laws and 1 ethical issue.
And this JPJ officer broke 1 ethical issue, that is for not being considerate by throwing a chair at this rider. And that is just one issue. And still, many Malaysians actually went out to support this boy who failed to respect the law and law enforcement officer and putting others in danger. You'll be surprised to see in local newspaper that people are still standing by this law-breaker-rider rather than the JPJ officer, a professional who was just doing his job.
I leave that issue for you and Malaysians to decide who is right and who is wrong. Ciao ciao.
