Four Days in Turkey

Image
So, how was Turkey? I cannot really answer that question because my holiday in Turkey was only in Istanbul. But what I can say is, Istanbul is GREAT! I think, my holiday in Istanbul is one of the best holidays so far. Firstly, my vacation in Istanbul is not like my any other vacation in a way that I did not stay in hotels or hostels, but I stayed with the Turkish themselves. In a way, it was more like a home stay programme rather than a normal holiday. Secondly, I went to Istanbul ALONE. I was supposed to go to Turkey with my Turkish friend who is in the same course with me, but he cancelled his plan at the last minute. So, I flew to Istanbul alone and spent my four days with his friends, who are totally strangers to me. Below is a picture of the Bosporus with the Europe on the left and Asia on the right. At first, I was a bit worried about the prospect of going to a foreign country and staying with people whom I had never met. I shared my concern with my friends like Fatih, Cheeno, Fr

Pop!

I am pissed! I am pissed looking at those people who just walk into reality shows like Akademi Fantasia and spent 9 weeks there singing and then come out wearing designer clothes and big fancy cars and big fancy houses. And already acting like diva. (This doesn't apply to all reality TV stars). While some people, spent three to five years in university, trying to memorise chemical equations or some complex formula of differentiation, and come out at the end of five years still wouldn’t be able to buy a Proton Waja. And people all over Malaysia wonder why teenagers today love to be a celebrity. DUH! “STUPID = Smart Talented Unique Person In Demand.” – Anonymous.

Members of Parliament

I spent half hour today watching the debate on Trident nuclear plan in the House of Commons today. I found it interesting to see how any MPs can voice out their opinion about Trident regardless of what party they came from. In principle, Tony Blair’s government is insisting on the renewal of Trident nuclear plan and although they won the debate, they won because of the votes from the oppositions (Conservative and Liberal Democrats). Why is that interesting? It is interesting because all MPs in the House of Commons actually have their own mind. It is interesting because the MPs actually say what their constituents want them to say, even if it means having to go against their own party. Even if it means having to lose their job in the cabinet, they will always stand by their beliefs and principles. And that’s what politicians who understand the people should do. They should put people’s interest before their personal interests. As I watched the debate this evening, I began to wonder when

Spring is here baby! "In the Spring, I have counted 136 different kinds of weather inside of 24 hours." - Mark Twain.

My Generation

My favourite song, my mobile ringtone and my good morning song. “Some days there won’t be a song in your he

The Day I Met a Mormon

I met a Mormon last week, which will make that my first encounter with a Mormon. Mormon, for those of you who haven’t heard of it, is actually a religion. It is another branch of Christianity in a way that both religions accept Jesus as the son of God. The difference between the two is, Christians believe in Trinity while the Mormons don’t. To be honest, I first came to know about Mormon from South Park. At first I thought Mormon is more popular in the US, but this friend of mine told me that Mormon is actually a bigger organisation in Europe compared to the US. In his own words, “We are everywhere.” Well, it sounded creepier when he said that to me last week. Ha-ha. He actually pointed out that there is a Mormon church being built in Ashford and the fact that there is also a church in front of Tanaka Business School in London. He also told me that in as a Mormon, one cannot drink alcohol, one cannot smoke, and one cannot have pre-marital sex. And since he had been a Mormon from the ag

IC Malaysian Night

If you ask me how was the Imperial College Malaysian Night last Saturday, I will only give one word – superb! I really enjoyed myself throughout the entire performance and I have to say ‘Great Job’ to everyone involved in the production of ‘A Silent Cacophony’. Hats off to the production team, the cast, the ensemble for putting up a very commendable show. Another Malaysian Night hosted by the Nottingham University will be held this Saturday but sadly, I will not be able to attend the event because of the PNB meeting the following day in London. I think I’ll leave you with one of my favourite parts of the last Saturday’s performance – the remake of ‘Stomp’. (Sorry Ijah for not making the Dikir Barat as my favourite performance Ha-ha). “Malaysian Night is a show that filled with the passion and spirit of the unique Malaysian culture. It is a show that is usually done by a Malaysia-related society within many tertiary-education institutions outside of Malaysia, to promote and introduce th
