Hiatus.

I will take a break from writing in this blog starting today. Thank you. “If you procrastinate when faced with a big difficult problem, break the problem into parts, and handle one part at a time.” – Robert Collier.

An assassination attempt?

I once asked a friend of mine whether is it possible for Malaysia to go as far as to assassinate someone because of their political influence. My friend told me that Malaysia is not the US, hence, an assassination is unthinkable. However, today, we saw Tun Dr. Mahathir was attacked with pepper spray (some media said teargas) in Kota Bharu. I’m not pointing fingers on anybody but just wondering how far some people will go just because they hate someone. And to think that the person who did this is actually Malay made it even more disturbing. Maybe it is really the time for us to understand the ‘Budi Bahasa’ campaign. Change your life. Ask me how.

We all have dreams. Some have elaborate dreams like wanting to have a grand and fancy wedding, some have a simple dream like wanting to be a millionaire by 40. Some just want to lose weight while others have an opposite dream that is to gain weight. Whatever your dream may be, all you have to do is grab great opportunities and put some effort into it. If you want to know more about losing/gaining weight while earning extra income at the same time, leave a comment and let me contact you (provided that you leave your email address or contact number). “Keep your dreams alive. Farewell.

Actor cum TV host, Hani Mohsin passed away today at KLIA while waiting for his flight to Alor Star. The last time I saw him in person was when I attended my Alma mater’s centennial celebration last year. Hani Mohsin was married to Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina and has a daughter, Hani Karmilla. To meet or not to meet.

Is it just me or do people like to hold a LOT of meetings nowadays. It seems like the only way for the world leaders to solve the problems around the world is through meetings after meetings. At the end of the day, all these meetings will come out with declarations after declarations. What happen next? Nobody knows. I know that I am just a ‘man on the street’ who knows no details about what happened in all these meetings. And I believe that it is the governments’ job to let us – the man on the street- know how these meetings will help to solve the problems around the world. Why bother to have a lot of meetings when at the end of the day, they cannot solve the problems? Take ASEAN for example, there had been quite a number of meetings since last year to solve Myanmar problem, but till today, all those meetings bear no fruits. Myanmar Junta government keep on fooling the ASEAN by giving excuses after excuses. Or lets take OIC who after each conference will condemn the US and Israel for a

Off to Bengkalis!

For the next two days, I will be spending my weekend in a little town in Sumatera called Bengkalis. The plan is to experience how people there live their life also, to visit a distant relative who is not so distant at all. Then the whole Sunday will be filled with a seminar that is supposed to change my life. As promising as it may sound, after that seminar, I will be spending my money – and my time – at KLCC since the Carnival Mega Sale will start this weekend. Oh, come Monday, more money and time will be spent at Midvalley Megamall. GOSH, I will be broke by Monday. Till then, see you guys later! P.S. Happy birthday to my dearest sister, Kak Leen, who is celebrating her 31st birthday today. “In family life, love is the oil that eases friction, the cement that binds closer together, and the music that brings harmony.” – Eva Burrow.

Majulah sukan untuk negara.

As soon as Pak Lah arrived from Perth, his beloved deputy, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak flew to London on a 5-day official visit. Somehow, it seems that the leaders of this country just love to go overseas – be it official or not. What is interesting about Najib’s trip to London is it coincides with the government’s controversial plan of building a sports complex for Malaysian athletes in London. This high-technology sports complex will cost RM490 million of taxpayers’ money. And this high-technology sports complex is supposed to GUARANTEE Malaysian athletes of securing ONLY GOLD medals in any sporting events. This high-technology sports complex will also GUARANTEE us a spot in the next World Cup 2010 in South Africa. This high-technology sports complex will also GUARANTEE us of the fame of breaking world records in any sporting events. Maybe, after this high-technology sports complex is built, Malaysia will have its athletes winning one or two prizes in Laureus World Sports Awards. I te

Actions and effects.

Actions: Iranian government decided to go ahead with its nuclear programme for pacific purposes (generating energ etc.). Effects: The US and its allies condemned Iranian government for being stubborn and threaten to impose economic sanctions on them. Actions: The Israeli government decided to attack Beirut and killed innocent people in the name of revenge. Effects: The US government supports Israel’s actions and blaming Hizbullah as the root of all problems. Is this is what we call justice? I don’t think so. How to live?

Image
Ever wondered how should we live our life? “Worry less and work more Ride less and walk more Frown less and laugh more Eat less and chew more Preach less and practice more.” Those, ladies and gentlemen, are the answers to ‘how to live?’ Thank you to my family and friends for all the love and support for the past twenty-one years. Without all of you, I wouldn’t be where I am now. Thank you very much. "The secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly and lie about your age." - Lucille Ball.

Black Friday.

While we are trying to promote peace with tagline like ‘make love not war’, somewhere out there, some people just don’t understand the meaning of peace. Is it too much to ask for peace in this world? Is it too much to ask world leaders not to go into war or create one? Is it too much to ask for a little freedom for commoners to live their everyday life without fear of being bombed? Yesterday, Israeli forces flew their jet above Beirut and launched an attack that not only destroyed Rafiq Hariri International Airport, but also killed 45 innocent civilians (including 10 children). Is this is what we really want - A never-ending feud that will lead to more and more killing? Everyday, we keep on praying that there will be peace in this world. Yet, everyday we will read news about people at war with each other. At this point, I can only extend my condolences to those affected by this atrocity. “Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at the goal.” – Ma

Destiny.

Maybe this is why people call it destiny. Something that you cannot change no matter what you do. You can work so hard to change it but if something is destined to be that way, it will be that way. At the end of the day, you can only pray and hope for the best. Something terrible happened to me today that I am not sure whether I am willing to share it with you. So for now, I will keep it to myself and hopefully things will turn out to be good for me. As I’ve said above, at the end of the day, I can only pray and hope for the best. What do you think about destiny? “A person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it.” – Jean de La Fontaine.

Emirin told me to put up the details about my Phuket trip here so here it goes. Date: 2-6 August 2006 (Wednesday-Sunday) Accommodation: Club Andaman Beach Resort, Patong Beach (4-star) Price per person: RM500 (Inclusive of return airfares, hotel accommodation and breakfast) If anyone is interested, just tell me OK! “Vacation is what you take when you can’t take what you’ve been taking any longer.” – Anonymous.

Racism in World Cup.

In each World Cup matches, ‘Say No to Racism’ banner was laid down at the middle of the field prior to the kick-off. This is a strong message to us to never use racial hatred against anybody. Unfortunately, some people still don’t understand what racial hatred means. To these kinds of people, I hope that you will someday learn what it’s like to be discriminated for your skin colour. I hope that you will someday learn what it’s like to feel alienated by everyone for just being different. And I hope that you will learn what it’s like to be treated unfairly just because you belong to a certain race. Incident in the final World Cup match between France and Italy taught us one thing – that we still have a long journey ahead of us to create a world that is free of racism. Zidane’s action of shoving his head into Materazzi’s chest is what I like to call ‘the end justifies the mean’ for he (Zidane) is just another victim of racial hatred. SAY NO TO RACISM. “It demands great spiritual resilienc

Life is beautiful.

“You’re my peace of mind in this crazy world. You’re everything I’ve tried to find, your love is a pearl. You’re my Mona Lisa, you’re my rainbow skies And my only prayer is that you realize You’ll always be beautiful in my eyes. The world will turn and the seasons will change And all the lessons we will learn will be beautiful and strange. We’ll have our fill of tears, our share of sighs. My only prayer is that you realize You’ll always be beautiful in my eyes. You’ll always be beautiful in my eyes. And the passing years will show That you will always grow more beautiful in my eyes. When there are lines upon my face from a lifetime of smiles, And when the time comes to embrace for one long last while, We can laugh about how time really flies. We won’t say goodbye because true love never dies. You’ll always be beautiful in my eyes. You will always be beautiful in my eyes. And the passing years will show That you will always grow more beautiful in my eyes. The passing years will show tha

Calling for doctors.

All major newspapers today ran a picture of Pak Lah strolling in a park in Perth. The caption was telling us that he had just finished with his surgery. It is nice for a little while to see a picture of a PM having a good time abroad with his family when other Malaysians can’t seem to find enough money to pay for their everyday costs of living. People here are whining that the costs of living grow faster than their income and this one particular PM is having a sinus operation in Australia. For the love of God, please come back to Malaysia as soon as possible and stop the economy from running into another recession. And while you are at it, maybe you can teach Malaysian doctors how to do a sinus operation so that you won’t be wasting taxpayers’ money going abroad for another operation. This is not a post on Malaysian politics. This is more like a post on medical facilities in Malaysia compared to Australia. “Just because your doctor has a name for your condition doesn’t mean he knows wh

Phuket Trip 2006.

I now would like to invite you (all my friends) to join me to Phuket, Thailand this August. The tentative date for the trip is from 2nd August to 6th August. For more details, YM or MSN me! And Happy Birthday to Firdaus Zulkifli (my friend), Zaffan (my cousin) and Yasmin (my niece) – all of them are celebrating their 21st birthday. “Once again, we come to the Holiday Season, a deeply religious time that each of us observes, in his own way, by going to the mall of his choice.” – Dave Barry. A year after 7/7

This time last year, I was in Lumut attending 25-day course, which also means no connection to the outside world whatsoever for 25 days. Somehow, some of my friends managed to sneak in their mobile phones and broke this news to me – London was under terrorists attack. Today, a year had passed, the 7/7 tragedy remains fresh in Londoners’ mind and of course, as with any terrorist attacks, Islamic militants will be blamed. It is sad to think that whenever these kinds of things happened, fingers will be quickly pointed to the Muslims. It doesn’t matter anymore that the majority Muslims don’t support terrorism because in everyone’s mind, Muslims are terrorists. Muslims are not terrorists. Islam doesn’t teach its believers to kill others or blow up buildings. The fact that most terrorists are Muslims doesn’t mean Muslims are terrorists. Although some Muslims chose to become terrorists, majority of us still believe in peace and we – like any other people – despise the acts of terrorism. I wou

Lets talk about...something else.

I was told to stop writing about Malaysian politics, so I will. From now on, lets talk about the weather. “Liberty is the possibility of doubting, of making a mistake…of searching and experimenting...of saying No to any authority - literary, artistic, philosophical, religious, social, and even political.” - Ignazio Silone. Our little economy.

Lets talk about the Malaysian economy. I have been talking so much on politics, I forget that there are other important things like economy of a country. Malaysia suffered from 1998 currency crisis and compared to Indonesia and Thailand, Malaysia came out of the crisis unscathed. Is that really true? I would say that statement is partly true and partly untrue. It is true by saying that the Malaysian economy went through the crisis unscathed but it is not true by saying that we have come out of recession. The Malaysian economy has not yet totally recovers from the last recession and yet we are on a verge of another recession. All thanks to the government’s economic policy and the Americans. We’ll talk about the Americans later because they only play a small role in this problem. Furthermore, we cannot blame others for our problems, can we? So, lets stick to the Malaysian government – the root cause of the current economic slowdown. The current government’s theme is to reduce budget defi

Have a good holiday.

As Pak Lah and Tun Dr. Mahathir spend two weeks abroad, nation awaits for further development of the rift between the PM and the former PM. Some people say Tun’s outrage is purely because of personal interests, others say he is a true patriot trying to save this country from a certain son-in-law. Whatever the reason behind this spat between the two leaders, majority Malaysians just want both Pak Lah and Tun to solve this problem at the earliest possible opportunity. Pak Lah will return from Perth on the 15th while Tun from Greece on the 20th, so let just wait and see what will happen next. Will Pak Lah continue with his ‘elegant silence’? Will Tun continue with his attack against the government? No one has the answers to these two questions but Pak Lah and Tun. “Everyone has his day and some days last longer than others.” – Winston Churchill.
