Black Friday.
While we are trying to promote peace with tagline like ‘make love not war’, somewhere out there, some people just don’t understand the meaning of peace. Is it too much to ask for peace in this world? Is it too much to ask world leaders not to go into war or create one? Is it too much to ask for a little freedom for commoners to live their everyday life without fear of being bombed?
Yesterday, Israeli forces flew their jet above Beirut and launched an attack that not only destroyed Rafiq Hariri International Airport, but also killed 45 innocent civilians (including 10 children). Is this is what we really want - A never-ending feud that will lead to more and more killing?
Everyday, we keep on praying that there will be peace in this world. Yet, everyday we will read news about people at war with each other. At this point, I can only extend my condolences to those affected by this atrocity.
“Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at the goal.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
