Super Power

If I can have one superpower, I will chose to have the power of being able to by in any part of the world with just a blink of my eye.

Once I have that kind of power, I can go home anytime I like, and go on holiday anytime I want.

But since we live in a real world – where life is cruel, unkind, and unfair – I cannot really have that kind of superpower. Having said that, is there is a way to be happy in life? Of course there is, and what makes life happy is being able to love and be loved. For as long as we can love other people and let other people love us, for that long we shall be happy in this cruel, unkind, and unfair world.

I watched Babel yesterday and I like the message in Babel especially the story about the two American couple having a holiday in Morocco. One interesting bit about that particular event is how government always acts like they know everything – which, sometimes they don’t – and almost risk someone’s life. When the wife was shot, she needs immediate medical attention to save her life. What happened in the movie was, the Moroccan government is planning to send an ambulance to rescue her, but the American government wants to send in a helicopter instead since, obviously that would be faster and would protect the couple from alleged terrorists’ threat. However, the Moroccan government would never allow the Americans to use their country’s airspace. In the meantime, the injured victim is losing more and more blood and could die in anytime. It makes you wonder how governments can be stupid at times but the problem is, no government will admit that they are being stupid or making mistakes.

Much recent example would be in Iran, where the Iranians captured British soldiers after claiming that the British soldiers were trespassing in Iranian waters. What happened now is, the British Government said they have proof to show that the soldiers were in fact not in Iranian waters when they were captured. The Iranian government also apparently has proof to show otherwise. So, the question is who is right then?

Unless one of them is willing to admit that they were wrong, I can only hope that this crisis will have a very happy ending.

“Hope is the most exciting thing in life and if you honestly believe that love is out there, it will come. And even if it doesn’t come straight away there is still that chance all through your life that it will.” – Josh Hartnett.
