IC Malaysian Night

If you ask me how was the Imperial College Malaysian Night last Saturday, I will only give one word – superb! I really enjoyed myself throughout the entire performance and I have to say ‘Great Job’ to everyone involved in the production of ‘A Silent Cacophony’. Hats off to the production team, the cast, the ensemble for putting up a very commendable show.

Another Malaysian Night hosted by the Nottingham University will be held this Saturday but sadly, I will not be able to attend the event because of the PNB meeting the following day in London.

I think I’ll leave you with one of my favourite parts of the last Saturday’s performance – the remake of ‘Stomp’. (Sorry Ijah for not making the Dikir Barat as my favourite performance Ha-ha).

Bad Bee. Bad Bee.

Everyone seems to be talking about exams nowadays. Well, you can’t blame them since exam is just around the corner. Currently I am revising for Principles of Marketing and Management with a bee hovering in front of me (well, actually, I am typing this entry). Not a very conducive environment indeed, I must say. For some strange reasons I seem to attract five bees into my room this week alone. It is amazing to see how these bees can take just 2 seconds to come into my room and the whole day to get out. Why is it so difficult for them to find the window to fly out of my room remains a mystery to me. Here I am staring at the bee and keep telling it to go to the right, where the window is. Sometimes, I even wonder whether it is the same bee everyday or not. Economy Game Anyone?

Today, I was given a chance to manage the Australian economy. Well, not really but it is for real. Haha. OK, let me explain, in my economics tutorial today we have to play this simulation of the Australian economy. To start with, we (My partner, Martha and I) are given data on the 1987 Australian economy. And in this simulation, we only have the power to manage four variables namely, government spending, income tax, sales tax and money supply. We were given 10 years to manage the economy. It turns out that managing an economy is a LOT harder in practical because my knowledge in theory is not helpful at all. OK, in macroeconomics, we always have to aim for a couple of goals which are low unemployment and inflation, favourable balance of payment, positive economic growth and favourable exchange rates. But, in this simulation we have to aim for low unemployment, inflation and interest rate. In 1987, the unemployment level was 6.3%, rate of inflation was 8.0% and interest rate was at 8.5%....
